Warsaw, MO is surrounded by an abundance of excellent fishing spots. The city’s location, close to the Lake of the Ozarks, and Harry S. 1. Osage Bluff
Located on the southern fork of Harry S. Truman Reservoir to the south of Warsaw this small creek and campsite is a good place to start. Fishing is best from the docks and piers around the marina, and channel catfish can be found further up the creek. Otherwise, crappie and largemouth bass can be found in the deeper waters of the reservoir, or in the cover close to the banks.
2. Shawnee Bend Public Use Area
Also on Harry S Truman Reservoir, the Shawnee bend public use area is a great spot to fish from. With a boat ramp located nearby, it makes it a good spot to start from if you are planning to kayak or boat fish. Otherwise, fishing from the shore can be combined with an idyllic camping trip by the lake. Anglers can find crappie, white bass, and walleye here, as well as sunfish and catfish.
3. Brickly Hollow
Located on the Lake of The Ozarks to the east of Warsaw, Brickly Hollow and the Brickly Hollow Conservation area are great places to start fishing the Lake of the Ozarks. Sunfish, catfish, and crappie can all be found in the creek, and the black bass for which the Lake is famous can be found further out in deeper waters or amongst the piles and other areas of cover along the banks.
4. Lake of the Ozarks State Park
Lake of the Ozarks state park is a great place to start if you’re thinking of catching spoonbill. As these unusual-looking fish are filter feeders, those looking to catch them must use snagging techniques rather than traditional baits to catch them. This is allowed only in a small time window from March 15 through to April 30 each year. Otherwise, this is an excellent place to fish for large and smallmouth bass, either from a boat or from the banks.
5. Harry S Truman State Park
Located in a convenient central area of the reservoir, Harry S Truman state park is a good place if you’re looking to explore the main area of Harry S Truman lake. There are two concrete launch ramps in the park, and as there are no size or motor restrictions on the lake, this is a great place to fish from boats or kayaks. The main species found here are large and smallmouth bass, walleye, catfish, sunfish, and common carp.
